This powerful philosophy defines the living ethos of Major Anirudh Yadav (ECE Batch of 2010–13), who etched his name into the annals of history by successfully unfurling the Indian Tricolor at the summit of Mount Everest (8,848 metres) on May 27, 2025.

An alumnus of BSF School, Sri Ganganagar, Major Anirudh’s journey started with simple, steady steps. He pursued a diploma in Electronics and Communication from the BSF Signal Training School at STS Tigri Camp, New Delhi, before joining RJIT in 2010 as a lateral entry student. He graduated with his Engineering degree in 2013, carrying forward lessons of perseverance, technical precision, and camaraderie that formed during his college days.

Driven by a deep sense of service to the nation, he cleared the UPSC Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the prestigious Madras Regiment on September 12, 2015.

True to the indomitable spirit of an Indian Army officer and an RJitian, Major Anirudh pushed his physical and mental boundaries to earn a coveted spot in the Indian Army’s Mount Everest Expedition team. The historic expedition was officially flagged off by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri on April 4, 2025, and flagged in by the Hon’ble President of India on June 17, 2025.

Prior to this monumental feat, Major Anirudh had already conquered several of India’s most technically demanding peaks, including Mount Kamet, Mount Mukut and Mount Dzo Jongo. This extensive high-altitude mountaineering experience, combined with rigorous military training, laid the unbreakable foundation required to weather the harsh storms and extreme altitudes of the world’s highest peak.

Major Anirudh Yadav’s incredible journey from the classrooms of RJIT to the snowy heights of Mount Everest stands as a shining testament to courage, valour and unwavering grit. RJIT is immensely proud of this historic milestone and wishes him the very best as he continues to scale new heights for the nation.

Seventeen years ago, Pawan Singh Mehra was an Information Technology student at RJIT with one stubborn habit: he would not move on from a problem until he understood why the answer worked. Today that same habit drives one of the most productive research careers to have come out of the institute, at the frontier where quantum computing meets cyber security — a field on which the digital safety of nations will soon depend.

His path after RJIT was steep and deliberate. He topped his batch in M.Tech. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Engineering, earned a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, and cleared UGC-NET and GATE multiple times. In December 2020, already an experienced teacher and researcher, he joined as faculty in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Delhi Technological University, one of India’s premier technical institutions.

What followed has been remarkable in both scale and impact. He has authored 34 journal papers, 37 conference papers and 19 book chapters, and edited 5 books. As of September 2026, his work has been cited more than 2,267 times, with an h-index of 25 and an i10-index of 47. He holds three granted patents in quantum cryptography, with ten more filed. And since 2022 he has featured every year in the Stanford/Elsevier list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists.

Delhi Technological University has conferred its Research Excellence Award on him every year from 2022 to 2026. At the 9th Research and Innovation Excellence Awards (RIEA-2026), he was the only recipient of awards in four categories at once — research papers, patents, citations, and Ph.D. guidance within three years.

He now leads sponsored research worth Rs. 4.35 crore from MeitY, DST and DTU, including a Rs. 3 crore project to build an AI-driven system for analysing and benchmarking cyber security audit reports, and a Rs. 1 crore grant under India’s National Quantum Mission to establish a Quantum Laboratory at DTU. His expertise has been drawn upon by MeitY, CERT-In and the Department of Telecommunications, and he designed and delivered a Quantum Computing course for the Government’s iGOT Karmayogi platform. He has delivered more than 25 invited talks and keynotes, including at Keele University (UK), the University of Tlemcen (Algeria), Samarkand State University (Uzbekistan) and Management & Science University (Malaysia). He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Fellow of IETE, and a member of ACM, CSI and ISTE.

Yet ask him what he is proud of, and the answer is his students. Three scholars have earned their Ph.D. under his sole supervision, with eight more on the way; seven M.Tech. dissertations are complete and six are in progress.

From a classroom at RJIT to the leading edge of quantum security, Dr. Pawan Singh Mehra’s journey shows what focus, depth and persistence can build. The RJIT family is proud of him and wishes him good luck for his future endeavors.

Dr Ram Datt enrolled at RJIT in 2007 and graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering (2011). He hails from Bheekhe Ram Ka Pura, a village in Ambah tehsil, Morena district, and studied entirely in Hindi medium through Class XII. After his B.E., Dr Datt earned an M.Tech in Nanotechnology from RGPV, Bhopal (2013) and completed a PhD in Engineering at CSIR–National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi (2019). He later joined Swansea University, where he is now a Senior Researcher in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, working within the SPECIFIC Innovation and Knowledge Centre on next-generation photovoltaic and optoelectronic technologies. He has authored more than 45 peer-reviewed publications and received several international research recognitions.

It is a matter of great honour for the RJIT family that our alumna Ms. Rubi Singh from IT: 2002–04 batch, currently serving as DGM, Nippon Signal, Bengaluru, recently got an opportunity to interact with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sh. Narendra Modi Ji, along with the Prime Minister of Japan, Ms. Takaichi, during her recent visit to India. Ms. Rubi represented her organization at the event. The RJIT family congratulates Ms. Rubi Singh for this wonderful achievement and wishes her many more accolades in life.

Today, our alumnus Mr. Divyanshu Purohit (General Motors, Detroit, USA) from AU: 2010-14 batch has announced the Bhanwar Lal Purohit Memorial Scholarship on the eve of his late father's birth anniversary. He has voluntarily given his consent to contribute Rs 25,000/- every year before 23rd June to commemorate this day. The scholarship has been established in the honor of his father, Shri Bhanwar Lal, a devoted father, principled human being, and proud serviceman who dedicated 24 years of his life to the Border Security Force (BSF). His life was a testament to duty, sacrifice, and integrity. By supporting students in their educational journey — especially those connected to the CAPF and BSF community — we carry forward his belief that education is one of the greatest gifts one can give.
